Find your tribe

Wise words here from @charliegowans in today’s @thetimes . Yoga is not the all-welcoming democracy that we like to claim, despite my business name! So a moment of honesty here: if you want to do handstands, get a thigh gap, or pose on a rock at sunset, my small-group online yoga classes are not for you. If you want to move in sync with a room full of people all performing the same series of poses (definitely a buzz!), my small-group online classes are not for you. And if you have particularly complex physical and/or emotional needs, they won’t be for you either - although individual lessons with me or another teacher might be a good fit for you.
So who is the (perhaps mis-named) Yoga For Every Body for? Most of our regular clients fit one of more of these criteria:
- Have asthma, arthritis, or another chronic health condition.
- Are neurodivergent.
- Have limited mobility (and/or hypermobility) and/or stamina.
- Find that live exercise classes at home are their best option in terms of energy expenditure and/or exposure to germs.
- Want to build a relationship with other class members, keeping cameras and mics on throughout the class.
(On editing this post, I realized that I meet ALL of these criteria myself - so don’t worry if you have multiple needs, you won’t be the only one!).
If this sounds like the yoga tribe for you, drop me an email. And if not, no hard feelings. Unless you care about other people having a thigh gap, in which case you can jog on.
